Proactive tyre management is essential for ensuring the safety of the driver, the condition of the vehicle and to minimise fuel costs. Tyreteam can provide a full range of essential tyre management services which includes regular inspections at the customer’s premises, normally every month or six weeks. 

Tyreteam engineers operate from our liveried satellite monitored vans that are fully resourced for a range of maintenance and repair tasks.

Equipment includes:

  • Balancing machines

  • Air jacks
  • Wheel alignment equipment
  • Puncture repair equipment
Tyre Management processes include:

  • NVD Check: This ascertains if the tyres can be passed for NVD (no visible damage). If damage has occurred then we will repair or replace the tyre.
  • Re-grooving: When a truck tyre tread is reduced to 4mm depth it is time to re-groove. This is essential for safety, minimising rolling resistance, extending tyre life and reducing fuel consumption.
  • Twinning: It is important that there is no more than 3mm to 4mm between the two tyres on the same side of a truck drive axle. The tyres must therefore be matched so that they have equal contact with the road surface, avoiding instability and undue tyre wear or possible premature failure.
  • Truck Wheel Balancing: Computerised wheel balancing will be carried out at a tyre team depot as the equipment is too heavy to transport.
  • Puncture Repair: This is undertaken at customer site with equipment carried in our vans.
  • Tyre Rotation: Effective tyre rotation increases tyre life and reduces operating costs. New tyres are fitted to the front of the truck and used or second life tyres to the rear and on the trailer. Tyreteam vans always carry a range of new truck tyres from leading brands on board when carrying out inspection visits and for roadside call-outs.
